first up, jane aldridge. the name speaks for itself- aldridge is prolific, creative, and has about a billion projects going on at any one time. she's the top of the top - and does it all from her home in trophy club, TX.
You clearly have a fabulous signature style! Where do you like to shop?
Aww, well you're sweet to say so. I shop all over-I'm an eBay addict. Whenever I travel, I like to shop. This summer I'm going to Tokyo and I can't wait to see what I find. Here in Dallas I like Fourty Five Ten and Barneys to oogle my favorite designers. I thrift a lot too-Texas has incredible thrift stores. I shop online for shoes sometimes.
Do you think of yourself as a style icon? Be honest- we think of you as one J
Hahahaha well thanks but I think I am definitely not a style icon!
Where do you see yourself in ten years? If ten's too far, how about five?
I'll probably be living in New York. Hopefully I will not spend myself into the streets with my shoe habit. It's a possibility though. With a bit of luck, maybe in ten years I will be a shoe designer? That's something I would have fun doing.
What would you say are the perks of blogging? Has it put you in touch with designers? PR people?
Yeah it has! I've had so many unbelievable opportunities since I started my blog...some I can't mention just yet (;-)) but it's put me in touch with amazing people.
What's your "day job"?
I'm a junior in high school. That's my day job. School can get really crazy…I really hate school though and I have a long school day. 7:45 to 3:45...it's a drag.
What's the craziest comment you've gotten? Do you communicate with other bloggers? If so, have you guys met in person or just online?
I've gotten some pretty funny ones-and people do ask the most unbelievable questions!
Yeah I do exchange emails with some other bloggers-I'd love to meet my favorites in real life one day. I was going to meet up with Rachel from Fashion Is Poison but our plans were ruined...huge bummer.
What do you do for fun outside of blogging (this is a lamely worded question, I apologize) – I basically mean tell us about your life outside of your online persona.
My life is pretty boring-and normal I guess. I hang out with my friends, read music blogs, play with my dogs, try on clothes...there isn't a lot to do where I live but there are some cool concerts I guess.
Along those lines, would you say your online persona is the same as your "real" personality? Radically different?
I don't know what my online persona is....in real life I am kind of shy and awkward and goofy...ermm I'm pretty nerdy I think...
What is your all time favorite piece of clothing?
That's a hard question to answer! I can't choose just one-I'm going to choose three. One of my favorites is a handmade lace dress I bought in Tulsa, Oklahoma-it's very old and delicate, and there are rows of sequins in the lace. Two is a vintage Kansai Yamamoto sweater with gothic/military detailing and huge shoulder pads. Three is a shearling and suede Richard Chai aviator jacket.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I'm a music freak…I love experimental, goth, noise and new wave and no-wave. I have a huge list of favorites but right now I'm into Suicide, Martin Dupont. Burial, Bauhaus, Sally Shapiro, Fuck Buttons, Revolting Cocks, The Sisters of Mercy, Merzbow, Japan, Malaria, The Fall…there are a lot more!
